Pre-Installation Planning

Pre-Installation Planning

At Innova we adhere to a proven and successful method for interior refurbishments that has stood the test of time for more than two decades.

The best way to mitigate risk is by detailed site inspection and careful planning. Obvious factors like discovering asbestos or finding structural problems or damp can hinder a project, often discovered when removing existing fixtures.
To manage asbestos related concerns, clients normally arrange their own refurbishment and demolition surveys conducted by a qualified asbestos professional. The purpose is to systematically identify as far as reasonably possible all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) before initiating any structural activities on site.  Subsequently any contractor involved in work within the designated area, gains access to this report.

Prior to initiating the project, we conduct a detailed site survey. This survey helps us to evaluate the feasibility of the design to suit the room infrastructure and your budget.  Once a project is awarded, we will progress to the pre-installation phase, where we initiate the necessary preparations. The first step is to appoint the project team, carefully selecting professionals with the relevant skillset required to deliver the project successfully.

Detailed site survey

A detailed site survey helps us to capture the pre-contract information as well as complete health and safety assessments for site specific RAMS (risk assessment and method statement).
Innova’s project managers will co-ordinate a full detailed site survey with all the sub-contractors including site dimensions and conditions, review asbestos reports, entry and egress routes, service supply and capacity, waste and drainage, location of radiators, pipes etc. to highlight any potential issues with the fit out.
Following the meeting the information is briefed to our design team who will amend the room layouts in our CAD/CAM screen to machine software if required.
Concurrently we develop a comprehensive programme of works, including M&E install (as applicable). This schedule is shared with relevant stake-holders to gather feedback and comments before finalisation.

Pre-start meeting

Pre-start meeting on site involves all parties including electricians, plumbers etc. to ensure smooth integration of furniture and services.  We fully brief our fitters, carry out risk assessments and agree on a safe, efficient site procedure:
  • Scheduling of key dates, project management and pre-planning information including construction phase plan
  • Asbestos reports, Health and safety assessment for site specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement
  • Management of minor building and M&E works, Decoration, Flooring, Ceilings, etc as applicable.
  • Site specific resource planning
  • Introductions, roles and responsibilities
  • Design review and required updates
  • Waste and drainage
Following the meeting any changes to the design or process are promptly communicated to the relevant teams.  After receiving the client’s approval for the final designs and colour choices, we proceed with the design sign-off.  At this stage the project digital file is finalised, containing detailed information on every panel and component necessary for the manufacturing process.
Regarding on-site health and safety, all the relevant information is documented in the final Construction Phase plan and RAMS as appropriate. Following client approval the final H&S File/RAMS are issued to our site manager. This ensures the site is equipped with all the necessary safety protocols, guidelines and precautions, promoting a safe and compliant working environment.

Sub-contractor management

In terms of sub-contractors, we rely on our own highly skilled, time served installation teams who have been collaborating with Innova for more than a decade. In addition we have built a strong network of expert installers across the UK, who have proven their capabilities in delivering quality work.
For any new sub-contractors, we have an established rigorous process in place. Prior to commencing any work, they are required to complete a Sub-Contractor Assessment Form.  This evaluation ensures they possess the necessary certifications, insurances and comply with our stringent health and safety requirements.
Innova’s fitters are fully DBS checked and maintain valid CSCS safety certifications. For turnkey design and build projects our team of specialist trade experts are equipped with essential certification such as electrics and gas qualifications. We emphasise proficiency and adherence to provide our clients with the confidence that their projects are in capable and safe hands.
Our staff wear identification badges and full PPE on-site.  Every site is overseen by an experienced supervisor, ensuring a safe and well-managed work environment.
