Vision West Nottinghamshire college, based in Mansfield and Ashfield provides education and training to almost 11,000 full and part-time students (including 1,400 apprentices) across all major industry sectors from entry level to level 5.
As part of their on-going facilities development the college approached Innova to design and provide a quote for the refurbishment of their electronics and engineering laboratory. The objective was to create a modern state-of-the-art space that aligns with the college’s vision for the 21st century, offering students an exceptional environment for learning that compliments the college’s commitment to high-quality education and training.

The brief
Following the successful design and installation of a cutting-edge laboratory, Vision West Nottinghamshire College appointed Innova with the transformation of additional spaces across the campus.
This included the redesign and upgrade of the electronics, engineering, and technology areas to better serve the needs of both students and faculty.
By integrating the latest technology, adaptable layouts, and industry-standard equipment, Innova planned to enhance these environments, providing students with the tools and inspiration needed to thrive in their studies and future careers.
The solution
Through careful planning and thoughtful design, Innova collaborated closely with Vision West to create state-of-the-art, spacious, and functional laboratories that will shape the engineers of tomorrow.
The science laboratories were developed using Innova’s unique ‘Hot Corner’ design, which integrates storage to ensure clutter-free work surfaces, optimises circulation, and provides flexibility in transitioning between both practical and theory-based lessons.
Durable Trespa TopLab work surfaces, along with additional electric sockets tailored for electronics lessons, were incorporated to create a practical, long-lasting, and inspirational environment.

Dedicated to supporting Computer-Aided Manufacturing courses, The HASS room now features perimeter benching for practical work with machine tools, complemented by loose tables and chairs for theory lessons. Flexible tables allow for easy reconfiguration to accommodate group work and adapt to diverse teaching and learning needs.
