Innova transformed Southlands High School with a range of modern, purpose-built spaces designed to inspire creativity and enhance learning opportunities.
The bright, contemporary, monochrome art rooms are thoughtfully designed with features such as teacher walls, ample drying racks for completed projects, extensive storage solutions to keep the space organised, and dedicated demonstration areas for hands-on teaching.
The design extends beyond the classroom to include a tiered performance theatre, providing an ideal venue for drama, music, and community events.
Complementing the theatre is a luxurious, star-lit dressing room, creating a professional backstage environment that adds a touch of glamour to every performance. With these cutting-edge facilities, Southlands High School is now fully equipped to nurture a creative and dynamic future for its students.

The brief
Building on the success of delivering a state-of-the-art Science Block, Innova Design Group was entrusted with an exciting new challenge: to design and create an inspirational music and arts block.
This project aimed to provide a vibrant and creative space that would not only cater to the needs of students and staff but also serve as a valuable resource for the wider community.
The brief called for a thoughtfully designed facility that could support a wide range of artistic activities, from music rehearsals and performances to visual arts and collaborative projects.

The solution
The art rooms were fitted with teacher walls, drying racks, and dedicated demonstration areas to support effective teaching and creative exploration.
A monochrome scheme was selected to highlight the vibrant student artwork displayed throughout the space, creating visually striking and inspiring showcases for budding artists.
Tailored drying racks were installed to provide a secure area for artwork to dry while keeping worktops clear and organised, ensuring a functional and clutter-free environment.

Striking music rooms were designed with a central performance space, island benching and keyboard storage, ideal for both practical and theory lessons.
Installation of a tiered performance theatre and a ‘star’ lit dressing room brought drama lessons to life.
An unused corridor was cleverly transformed to a multi-functional break-out area with storage, textile and MAC design space.
The new spaces are a hit with students at the school with many commenting that the 21st century learning facilities are “… like being at university”
