The brief
Following the successful completion of a laboratory and auditorium installation, Urmston Grammar School was so impressed with the results that they invited Innova Design Group back for another classroom refurbishment.
This time, the school planned a full turnkey service to refurbish their modern language laboratory. The goal was to redesign the space into a contemporary, flexible environment that would not only enrich the learning experience for students but also accommodate the changing demands of the curriculum.
Innova’s team collaborated closely with the school to gain a deep understanding of their specific requirements and vision for the space.
With their extensive experience in designing and delivering educational spaces, Innova has delivered a state-of-the-art language laboratory that has truly inspired our students.
The solution
Our professionals managed every aspect of the refurbishment, from initial design through to installation, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. This included upgrading the laboratory’s infrastructure, integrating the latest technology, and optimising the layout to create a collaborative, engaging, and functional learning environment.
With valuable input and feedback from staff, Innova designed an interior featuring twin pods, storage solutions for thin-client ICT equipment, and a new double-pitched false ceiling that maximised natural light. We also replaced the flooring and completed the full decoration of the space.
To elevate the design, we incorporated titanium and bold burgundy laminate finishes, as well as sound-deadening materials to reduce noise transfer across the room.

Multicultural wall graphics were added to further enrich the environment. The result was the transformation of a traditional classroom into a modern, productive workspace. Now, multiple groups can simultaneously engage in language practice using the latest software, creating an interactive and dynamic learning atmosphere.
